1921- President Roosevelt is diagnosed with polio
1928-1929- The iron lung is created and distributed to hopitols
1931- More than one polio virus is discovered
1938- March of Dimes is founded by Roosevelt (NFIP)
1947- Jonas Salk begins research in the virus
1949- Scientists discover a way to grow poliovirus in a tissue culture, later used in the vaccine
1952- The number of polio cases in the u.s surge and Salk begins early polio vaccine tests
1953- Salk gives his Vaccine to his family
1955- polio vaccine results announced and cutter incicdent
1955-1957 The number of cases in the u.s drops 85-90%
